Demolition work on the clubhouse at the former Ironwood Country Club should be wrapped up by next week.

The building’s removal is part of a major transition for the 153-acre property at 126th and Pacific Streets in Omaha, sold for $9.98 million at a foreclosure auction in early 2010.

Lockwood Development, the property’s new owner, plans to create a project called Sterling Ridge that will include homes, condominiums, offices, restaurants, shops, a hotel and a tri-faith religious center.

Developers expect to break ground on the first building, the Millard Refrigerated Services headquarters, in September, Lockwood owner Chip James said Thursday.

Before then, crews will be on site to finish grading work and next month will begin putting in streets and sewer and water lines.
